Shivpal Singh Yadav

Began his documented cooperative-sector political career as president of the district cooperative bank in Etawah in 1988 and served until 1991.

First elected as MLA from Jaswantnagar in the 1996 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, receiving 68,377 votes.

Served on the Joint Committee on Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Denotified Tribes from 1997 to 1998.

Served on the Committee on Public Accounts and the Joint Committee on Public Undertakings and Corporations during 2002-2003.

Joined the Mulayam Singh Yadav Cabinet in September 2003 and remained in the state Cabinet through May 2007.

Won the 2007 Jaswantnagar Assembly election with 73,211 votes and began his third verified Assembly term.

Served on the Business Advisory Committee from 2008 to 2010.

Served as Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from May 2009 to March 2012.

Won Jaswantnagar in the 2012 Assembly election with 133,563 votes and entered his fourth Assembly term.

Joined the Akhilesh Yadav Cabinet in March 2012 and served as a Cabinet Minister until March 2017.

Won Jaswantnagar in 2017 with 126,834 votes and became a fifth-time MLA.

Founded the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) in 2018 and served as its president until December 2022.

Contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Firozabad on the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) ticket and received 91,869 votes.

Returned to the Samajwadi Party and won Jaswantnagar in 2022 with 159,718 votes, beginning his sixth verified Assembly term. The official Assembly profile records him as sixth-time elected.
